Whats Happening Right Now!
During this time of “lockdown” and the Covid 19 global pandemic I find myself in a heightened state of visual awareness as a painter. Working on a new series of paintings in my home Studio has become my main focus. Whilst experimenting with paint and reflective surface, this new collection recollects moments in time before the lockdown and re focuses the nude at the centre of a ‘sequester’ self portrait. To sequester means to isolate. To put away, to set aside for a particular purpose. Art has always sustained humanity in its darkest hours.
Here you can see this collection as it grows and emerges. Some individual works are finished and some remain as works in progress. Painted on wooden blocks and aluminium panels in small squares and oblongs they play with the relationship between narrative, being together and isolation.
